    Ricardo Osorio Biography

Ricardo Osorio Mendoza (b. March 30, 1980 in Huajuapan de León, Oaxaca) is a Mexican football player, who currently plays for VfB Stuttgart as a right back in the German Bundesliga. The talented defender is known for his solid defence and speed. He made his debut in the Primera División de Mexico in 2001-2002 season in a match against CF Atlante, with a 3-1 victory over their opponent. Displaying his dynamic form, he won his first international cap for Mexican national football team playing in the Finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament, against Brazil in July 13, 2003, winning 1-0.

A important player in the Mexican defence, Osorio was selected in his country's squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany, though his time with the national team has not always been in good fortune. In the Confederations Cup 2005 he missed a penalty in the semi-final which resulted in Mexico being eliminated.

After an outstanding performance during the 2006 World Cup, German club VfB Stuttgart signed him for four years, in which they paid a sum of 4,000,000.00 euros for the Mexican defender.

Osorio scored his first goal in the Budesliga for VfB Stuttgart on February 16, 2007. The goal came at the 44th minute of the match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The goal itself was sublime, Osorio (playing at right-back) scored with a neat finish after a curling cross from left-back Ludovic Magnin. Stuttgart won 4-0.
